Technical textiles are to be found in numerous and diverse applications in the medical field. Applications for textile fabrics include wound care, protective clothing; and sanitary and incontinence products.

Implantable materials include artificial ligaments and tendons; and vascular grafts. Textile threads are used for sutures. Hollow fibres are used in kidney dialysis machines.
